Odin and Thor the guinea pigs are so small we had to give them
a powerful name to protect them.

Mercy enjoys a quiet life now, after being rescued from
a puppy mill where she was forced to produce puppies non-stop
until she finally collapsed and was left to starve in a cage.
When we rescued her, she had been 7 days without food,
was too weak to stand, bore wounds from being attacked
with a machete, was near death. Her former name was "Money".

Uli the owl fell out her nest on a windy day and flew into our
arms by mistake, a mistake she didn't regret, since she had
great food delivered right to her mouth by doting keepers who
loved the little bird. She was a constant source of amusement
with her calls and interaction with our staff. Finally, she attracted
a large flock of her own kind who visited her nightly and
with whom she eventually flew off.

Frida is anti-social with other cats. She only likes dogs and
monkeys and people, of course. She probably doesn't know
she is a cat and spends most of her time by herself.

Noi is a Shitzu who was abandoned on the street when she
could no longer produce puppies. She was found in poor
condition, sitting in the middle of the road.

Bongo the doberman was beaten unconscious with a piece
of wood by his former owner because he was not mean enough
to be a watchdog! He was rescued by the neighbors and
brought to the sanctuary. Four year later, he still doesn't allow
men in his compound but his loves women and cats.
